I will stamp all over 'legitimate fighter' Paul - Joshua

Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul face-off

The British boxer prepares to battle Jake Paul in an eight-round contest which will be shown live on Netflix.

British boxer Joshua said he will "stamp all over" the American and "defeat" his opponent as the pair confronted each other to promote next month's heavyweight fight.

Former twice unified heavyweight champion Joshua faces YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul - in what is, on paper, a mammoth uneven pairing - at Miami Kaseya Center on December 19th.

Boxer's Mindset

"I plan to damage his features and hurt his body. I'm here to prove my superiority," Joshua, 35 years old, declared.

"I will dominate him completely. That's a fighter's mentality.

"I intend to really want to hurt him. That's what I want to do."

Respectful Exchange

In spite of those words, a composed Anthony Joshua and internet personality Jake Paul - normally recognized for his theatrics - were respectful and maintained decorum with each other.

Paul instead attacked ex Joshua opponent Francis Ngannou and described him as "not serious" after Ngannou declined a match opportunity.

Taking Aim at Fury

Joshua, meanwhile, criticized UK rival Fury - and refused a £1m bet 'Tyson Fury' says he will place on a victory for Paul.

"Jake Paul is better than Fury - he's present here," Joshua said.

"I acknowledge that."

Serious Opponent

Despite declaring he will damage his opponent, Anthony Joshua refused to speak negatively about his rival's pugilistic talent.

"Jake Paul is a serious fighter," he said.

Paul's Background

Paul - who initially became famous on the Disney Channel - has mainly fought mixed martial artists or faded names since becoming pro.

He was defeated by British fighter Fury in last year.

Financial Attraction

Still, the relative newcomer is still one of boxing's greatest financial successes, frequently receiving substantial earnings.

Prediction and Confidence

The 28 year old anticipated a stoppage in the fourth or fifth round and asserted he would derail the much-anticipated Fury-Joshua bout, which is apparently in the works for two years from now.

"It's going to be myself against Tyson Fury in the coming year," Paul declared.

Size Difference

As the two fighters participated in the customary stare-down, with their size difference on show, it highlighted just how unlikely this whole event is - and how astonishing it is that the bout is actually proceeding.
